Apple announces iPhone 17e and iPad Air M4
They are finally out.
Just like Tim Cook alluded to recently, we got new Apple products today – specifically, iPhone 17e and iPad Air M4. The new iPad is a good refresh, but no new real features to write home about, other than increased performance. Most of the new stuff comes on the M4 chip that we have seen in other products including the M4 iPad Pro, which is a great device. Both the iPad Air M4 and the iPhone 17e come with the C1X modem found in the iPhone Air.

The biggest, albeit, still small, changes come in the iPhone 17e. Just like the rumors, the iPhone 17e now comes with MagSafe. This allows for more accessories and faster wireless charging speeds. The iPhone 17e also comes in a new pink color (which barely looks different than the white, but still an improvement). iPhone 17e comes with the same A19 chip as found in the iPhone 17, offering great performance and battery life. iPhone 17e now starts with 256GB of storage, up from the 128GB found in the base iPhone 16e. The maximum storage is still 512GB.
The one thing that did not come with this refresh is the Dynamic Island. This feature was rumored to arrive on the iPhone 17e, but instead it still has the notch design from previous iPhones. This is certainly not a dealbreaker, but it is disappointing that it does not come with it.
The new iPhone 17e and iPad Air M4 look to be great refreshes and bring long-awaited features to the lineup. We will have to wait and see what Apple does soon.
