Apple abruptly pulls back on iPhone Air production
Seems like it is going around.
Apple has reportedly started pulling back on the production of their latest and greatest iPhone model, the iPhone Air. This comes after devastatingly low sales, with Fortune citing a survey that says that there is "virtually no demand" for the iPhone Air. Users have been saying that the battery life is just not enough, even with the $99 MagSafe Battery Pack.
The production levels are so low now that The Verge reports that the phone has been "slashed to borderline 'end of production' levels." This does not bode well for the thin phone, especially from Apple. Apple has shown us with the iPhone mini that if some new model does not perform well, it comes off the market.

This is something that is happening with Samsung as well, as they halt production for the Galaxy S26 Edge. It signals that maybe thin phones are not the right idea for the moment in the phone space. Users care a lot more about battery life now and it is important that you deliver on that as a manufacturer.
They also care about displays, it turns out. A major factor for a lot of people with their iPhone purchase is the refresh rate of the display. The iPhone 17 now comes with a 120Hz ProMotion Display. This really completes the iPhone 17 as the perfect model and eliminates the need for a more expensive model if you don't need the features.
Either way, it is sad to see the iPhone Air's production getting cut. We will have to wait and see what Apple does soon.
