Late last week, Apple released iOS 26.2, a small, but still significant update for iOS. It comes with many fixes and changes for iOS, especially to fix the issues that people have been experiencing with Liquid Glass. This comes alongside the updates for macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS, all with similar fixes.

Some of the biggest news for me was the restoration of Split Screen multi-tasking to iPadOS, a feature that was previosuly replaced by the new Windowed App mode. Many iPad users missed the old multi-tasking view that allowed for better, fuller-screen apps.

Another piece of information that was glossed over but is still important for this update is the fact that iOS 26.2 turns on automatic updates by default now, instead of having to specifically turn it on. MacRumors reported that it notifies users who do not have the feature enabled already that updates will be automatically downloaded by default now, with options to change it back in Settings.

This is most likely the right decision, as it could help alleviate some of the troubleshooting steps when customers seek support. It can also help identify and fix bugs and security issues quicker, and improves safety and security for more iOS users.

Another major Liquid Glass-related fix is that iOS 26.2 now includes a slider for Liquid Glass for the time on the Lock Screen. This again brings back control for the user as many have still reported issues with legibility. This should help to fix some of these issues and allow for greater customization on the lock screen.

Much more is coming in iOS 26.2 and it should be a great update that brings needed bug fixes and new features to iOS. We will have to wait and see what Apple does soon.
