What could it be?

Apple teased through Instagram on their Apple Fitness+ account that "something big" is coming for Apple Fitness+ in the new year of 2026. This could be related to numerous leaks that have come out recently, specifically about a possible Apple Health+ service, an AI-based health service slated to launch around 2026 at some point. This would be in line with those leaks, but since there hasn't been much in the way of substantive information on the platform, it could be completely unrelated.

As MacRumors points out, the AI-based Health+ service that gives personalized information about health habits and coaching would most likely rely on the LLM-based Siri that is expected to come out in the spring of 2026 in iOS 26.4, so a January announcement would not make sense.

Previously, Mark Gurman said that this Health+ service may come alongside a redesigned Health app in iOS. This may point to a later release, possibly with iOS 27 at WWDC in June, where most of the full redesigns are announced. Apple could stagger the release with a limited release of the AI assistant in January to the spring, and then a full Health app redesign centered around the Health+ service later on at WWDC.

On the other hand, this big announcement for Fitness+ could be more related to upgraded plans with more features and perks and workouts. It could also be just an increase in content and more workouts available with more categories to choose from.

This Health+ service could also just be combined with the existing Fitness+ subscription since the existence of both seems redundant. It would make more sense to have one larger health subscription instead of two smaller ones for two different fees.

Either way, something big is happening with Fitness+ and time will tell what that thing is. We will have to wait and see what Apple does soon.
