Apple to drop support for these devices soon

It's that time of year again.
Every year, at WWDC, Apple announces their new operating systems for their devices. As these operating systems get more advanced, older devices can't keep up with the new features, so Apple has to drop support for older devices so that they work properly.
However, this doesn't at all mean that the devices slow down, it just means that they don't have enough power to keep up with the new features.
This year, with iOS, iPadOS, and macOS 26, Apple is expected to drop support for the following devices.
iOS 26 is going to drop support for:
- iPhone XR
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
iPadOS 26 is going to drop support for:
- iPad (7th generation)
macOS 26 is going to drop support for:
- MacBook Air (2020, Intel)
- MacBook Pro (2018)
- Mac mini (2018)
- iMac Pro (2017)
Obviously, these lists are not necessarily final, but they are a glimpse as to what to expect for hardware requirements. If your device is on this list, it is probably time to upgrade. This is not only because your device may feel slow, but also because your device will stop receiving security patches soon, which could be a safety and security risk.

This somewhat major drop in device support is probably because of the brand new Solarium UI. The animations will probably be more intensive and require more processing power to handle. Also, not every device supports every feature. Apple Intelligence, for example, requires an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 or later.
We will have to see what Apple announces at WWDC on June 9th.
