Apple Vision Pro to get its first 'immersive' sports
            Will it finally be useful?
Apple announced recently that the Vision Pro will be getting new immersive sports to watch and experience sports games in a whole new way. The first sport to be brought over to the headset is Basketball. Apple announced that a 'selection' of Lakers games will be available on the Vision Pro for the start of the next NBA season. It will transport you to a courtside viewing of the games. Apple notes that they are bringing "perspectives that are impossible to capture in traditional broadcasts" to the headset.
The library of immersive content is expanding for the Vision Pro, with content like one in a submarine, a Metallica concert, and, especially relating to the most recent additions, a short film about the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend. But, the question I keep asking myself is why?

The Vision Pro is essentially a scaled up iPad that is optimized to sit right in front of your eyes. There is nothing content-wise that an iPad can't do that a Vision Pro can. The iPad is already a pretty flawed device, with the same looming question hanging over it of why it is necessary. In the future it will make sense why we need a Vision Pro, but especially considering the price, there is just not enough to offer yet for it.
I'm sure that, like the iPhone, content will be made and, while it might not be nearly as fast as on the iPhone, it will definitely happen, eventually.
The Apple Vision Pro is a great device, but with no real purpose yet. We will have to wait and see what Apple does soon.
