ChatGPT wants developers to submit apps for their new app store
Automation is getting real.
Earlier this week, OpenAI announced that, following their announcement at DevDay this year, they would now officially be taking requests from developers for apps to integrate into ChatGPT. These apps, once approved, will live in a new app store where users can install and integrate these apps into their chats. They are also now adding more and more resources for developers to create their apps, which could help speed up the process of integrating these apps into ChatGPT significantly.
These apps can be toggled through the tool menu, or they can "get triggered during conversations when @ mentioned by name." This will make it much simpler to access other functions.

OpenAI also indicates that they are researching and looking into monetization in the future. This will also incentivize developers to create more apps for ChatGPT and shows how they could be a service provider like YouTube, offering the core services, but with other companies making a lot of the content.
It's interesting how OpenAI frames this as not only an extension of ChatGPT's abilities to work alongside you, but also as an extension of you to work with you. It goes to show just how far along we are in AI automating essentially all of our tasks.
ChatGPT's new apps will bring more capabilities and possibilities to ChatGPT and can help boost productivity. We will have to wait and see what OpenAI does soon.
