iOS 26 out now to the public
It's honestly even better than I thought.
iOS 26 has officially come out today, September 15, 2025. It is a monumental leap forward in the design of the iPhone's operating system, a change that we have not seen in quite some time. Apple obviously unveiled all of the brand new incredible features at their WWDC earlier this year, and they have, for the most part, all come to the new operating system release today.
The biggest change is the new Liquid Glass interface. It is strikingly new from the flat design we have been living with for years at this point. I like this new look. It brings a new, fresh feeling to the operating system. It feels like Apple has really started to think deeply about their products again and have decided to do things the Apple way again.

In my short time of testing, it seems as though the release version of iOS 26 is pretty stable. When I first updated on my iPhone 16 Pro, it seemed pretty laggy and slow. However, that subsided after a short amount of time and it feels much better now. It was most likely due to the heat that the phone generated during the update, which was gone after only a few minutes.
It feels snappy enough that I would recommend updating now. Be careful, though. First, make sure that your device is compatible. Then, if it turns out it is compatible, do an iCloud backup before updating. This will make sure that if something does go horribly wrong, you will be safe and can return everything back to normal. Then, my side advice would be to let your phone sit for a minute after updating and don't worry if it is a little laggy at first. It will pass after a few minutes or so.
iOS 26 is a great update. It brings a new design and lots of great features to iOS and the iPhone. We will have to wait and see what Apple does soon.
