iPhone 17e to feature MagSafe
The one limitation will finally be gone.
Recently, new reports containing information about the upcoming budget iPhone, iPhone 17e, have leaked that the iPhone 17e will finally fix the biggest issue that was found with the iPhone 16e: MagSafe charging. It should also include faster wireless charging, which is part of the MagSafe spec.
Like with the iPhone SE models of the past, the iPhone 16e brought most of the current features internally from the higher-end phones like faster chips and better cameras. However, despite the iPhone 14-esque body found in the iPhone 16e, which would support MagSafe, the iPhone 16e only supported the slower 7.5 watt Qi wireless charging standard (as opposed to the upwards of 20 watts found in current MagSafe Chargers).

The MagSafe ecosystem is growing, and fast, and this tradeoff felt more like a burden than anything else. The MagSafe for iPhone standard is 5 years old, so it feels a little odd that a new phone released in 2025 doesn't support it.
But, these new reports confirm that the iPhone 17e, next year's budget iPhone, will support the MagSafe standard. This is a welcome addition and removes the biggest (and essentially only) issue with the budget iPhone (maybe other than the single camera).
MacRumors also confirms that the iPhone 17e's MagSafe system will support "speeds of up to 20W or 25W" up from the 7.5W Qi system. This is much more in line with the rest of the iPhone lineup and the rest of the smartphone market.
The iPhone 17e will be a great budget iPhone that will bring a lot of people to iPhone for lower prices. We will have to wait and see what Apple does soon.
