Gaming on Windows should get a lot simpler.

Xbox announced recently through a Windows update post that they are officially rolling out a preview of Xbox Full Screen Experience on Windows on the MSI Claw, with "additional OEMs enabling their handhelds in the coming months." This is a very good sign for Windows handhelds, as it shows that Xbox is focused on bringing the Xbox experience to all Windows handhelds, not just the ones with an Xbox logo.

It does make sense, since there has been a lot of backlash about how Windows and handheld gaming has worked for a while now, and since Microsoft has been behind all of it, not the device manufacturers, it is time for them to clean up their act.

Currently, Microsoft says that to enable it on "supported devices," you can go to "Settings > Gaming > Full screen experience, then select Xbox as your home app." From there, you can launch the experience through Task View or the Game Bar, and you can even configure it to launch into the experience on startup.

Though some have reported issues and bugs, Xbox FSE has been a very positive experience on the Xbox ROG Ally and Xbox ROG Ally X and has finally fixed many of the issues of playing video games with a Windows handheld.

Xbox Full Screen Experience is a step in the right direction and is a great interface to use on a Windows handheld. We will have to wait and see what Microsoft does soon.
