It's been a while.

After years of speculation and rumors, it's official - Microsoft is working on the next generation of Xbox. They confirmed recently that it is codenamed "Project Helix" and that development is in full swing. Project Helix is set to be a leader in performance and a very premium, high-end console. This has many people wondering if it will cross the 4-digit mark in terms of price.

This is in line with other rumors stating that it would be closer to a PC, and less to a traditional console. Xbox did say that Project Helix will be able to play not only Xbox games, but also PC games, hinting at increased performance. Plus, with the recent release of the $1000 Xbox ROG Ally X, is there a limit that Xbox will go in terms of price?

This console is set to release in late 2027, probably around Christmas. By this time, the AI RAM crisis may or may not be over, so it is tough to say what the price will be since the RAM could cause it to be well over $1000 now. With the leaked performance, Xbox's track record, along with recent industry trends, I expect the next Xbox console to be around $699. This is (hopefully) around what the Steam Machine will cost, so if it is a direct competitor to that, then it should be around the same price.

These new confirmations from Xbox bring great insights into the next Xbox console and a great look ahead for Xbox. We will have to wait and see what Xbox does soon.
