Apple to raise product prices due to memory shortage
Even Apple isn't safe.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal earlier this week, Tim Cook confirmed that Apple will be forced to further raise prices on their products due to severe memory shortages from AI. Even Apple, one of the richest companies in the world, is not safe from these shortages.
It's clear by this point that the shortages and rising costs are inescapable for everyone, and a solution needs to be found to fix the rising costs. Apple, typically, has held a pretty strong grip on the tech market, especially in recent years. Tim Cook's expertise in supply chain and the tech landscape has shined through and certainly developed throughout his tenure as CEO, now right before leaves.
It is also not typical Apple fashion to come out and essentially leak information about products and details of unreleased products before they are announced. Historically, Apple has held the image that if a product is not announced, it does not exist, and it is essentially a surprise every year when a new iPhone comes out to Apple.

Even if the general public knows of the release of this year's new iPhone, it is still kept as a secret that it will even be announced. Considering that the iPhone 18 Pro, in the eyes of Apple, doesn't exist, it is surprising to see that Apple basically is confirming its existence.
Apple only comes out to comment on upcoming products if the situation is one that would be worse off if they did not say something, like when Apple apologized for the issues with the 2013 Mac Pro and promised a new one, which came in the form of the 2019 Mac Pro. This also similarly happened with the scandal of Apple Intelligence, when Apple came out and apologized for their false advertising, later agreeing to settle the class-action lawsuit.
While this is not the same situation, because not only is it not really Apple's fault for the raise in price, but it is also the case that Apple, clearly, is accustomed to releasing the product, and then apologizing later, Apple is still apologizing for this, commenting on unannounced products, just in advance, which is admirable. There is a world where the price increases are modest and they use this opportunity to show their competitors and the world that they are not as greedy as they are made out to be.
This is obviously not the most plausible situation, not only because Apple does keep their profit margins somewhat high and the memory crisis is hitting everyone hard, but also because if they are apologizing now, it is unlikely that they are apologizing for a slight price increase. This also coincides with the dramatic change in pace with the base iPhone expected to release later, most likely early next year.
This all may be preparation for that situation, especially if they are apologizing now for the price increase for the Pro models, but then release the base iPhone at a lower cost later without an increase, if they can get their act together. Hopefully this is the case, but it is unlikely.
Apple's price increases are going to be difficult for everyone, and it is clear that the AI RAM crisis is still going on. We will have to wait and see what Apple does soon.
